Susana Lein at the Organic Association of Kentucky Conference 2018

The Organic Association of Kentucky Conference will be held in Lexington over the first weekend in March. Our very own Susana Lein will be leading a short course on Permaculture in Practice. She will be sharing the methods that create the beautiful produce she shares with us at market. The course will draw upon her 28 years of experience and practices that she has developed at Salamander Springs Farm. She will be teaching participants how to create and maintain healthy, living soil--without tillage or outside fertilizers.  She will also demonstrate the utilization of continuous cover crops, including poultry forages,  for non-mechanized staple grain and dry bean production--inspired by Japanese rice farmer Masunobu Fukuoka’s seminal work.  Also covered will be the use of cover crops and on-site mulches in intensive vegetable production and no-till cornmeal/popcorn fields in the “3-Sisters” Native American practice. For more information and participant registration please visit the Organic Association Kentucky's webpage at https://www.oak-ky.org/2018-conference
