Hunger Gains: Budget Cuts Imperil Nutritious Food Aid
At the Berea Farmers Market we believe in making local farm food accessible to all. That's why we participate in nutritional assistance programs like SNAP (food stamps), WIC Farmers Market vouchers (supplemental food for young families), SFSP (free summer lunch program for kids) and Senior Farmers Mkt. Vouchers (supplemental food for low income seniors). We also double EBT & farmers market vouchers. We are proud of our work but are also worried about how future budget cuts may affect these programs that not only feed the hungry but put money in the pocket of farmers.
